Incredibox

Incredibox is an amazing online flash app you can play with that allows you to create a song out of some really sick beat boxing and vocal samples made by a musician called Incredible Polo. There are now two versions of the app using different samples and you can now record and share your own compositions with it. I seriously recommend checking it out but beware - you probably won't do anything else for hours.

And if you enjoy Incredibox you might also enjoy:

TED: Ideas worth spreading

'Riveting talks by remarkable people, free to the world'

Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) is an international nonprofit project / website / think tank which broadcasts public lectures and conferences videos basically about spreading ideas. Their mission statement seems to be broadcasting ideas that could 'change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world.' Many of the speakers have won awards for their lectures and innovative ideas. A lot of the videos I've watched are to do with the digital age and the environment, but the videos seem to raise intellectual debate on a fantastically wide variety of subjects. The website itself is quite aesthetically pleasing, and in the sidebar you can choose from video themes including technology, entertainment, design, business, science and global issues, or alternatively from adjectives like 'jaw-dropping', 'persuasive', 'courageous', 'ingenious', 'fascinating', 'inspiring', 'beautiful', 'funny', 'informative' - and they really are. They post a video every weekday, so go check it out!

Here's the website: http://www.ted.com/

And here are a few videos I found interesting:

The best Radio 4 comedy programmes

They're not all running at the same time, obviously, but look out for the following:

Just a Minute
Wordaholics
I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue
The Unbelievable Truth
The News Quiz
Life: An Idiot's Guide
It's Your Round
The 99p Challenge
The Ape that Got Lucky
Mr and Mrs Smith

See BBC Radio 4's comedy programme section to see if they're on at the moment. And you can probably find quite a few clips on YouTube or programmes to download if you try Google.

Dylan Moran

I've seen this smokey, soused Irishman live and was surprised that he was a total let-down. He forgot half his set and it was all a bit too obvious a style of observational comedy for me. But it turns out I just saw the wrong tour, because 'Like, Totally' is hysterical. I would like, totally recommend it.

And if you're not already a fan of the tearfully hilarious comedy series Black Books (Moran at his best, alongside Bill Bailey and Tamsin Greig!), I urge you to go straight to 4OD and watch all three series back to back.

Don't Look Back (Telepopmusik) cover

Lovely gal and guy cover this ace song. Totally chill. Pure talent.

YouTube is teeming with these musical gems, if you know where to look.

Here are a few hints:
La Blogotheque
Black Cab Sessions
Soul Kitchen

...as well as:
From the Basement
6Music live sessions
Bandstand Busking
They Shoot Music
Off the Beaten Tracks

WELCOME

This is going to be somewhere where I post all the interesting goodies I find, and maybe some news 'n' views whilst I'm at it. I'll be bringing the far corners of the internet straight to your face. BAM!

Enjoy!
